Calondra Tibbs is the CEO and Nonprofit Strategist for Trifecta Advising, LLC. She brings more than 20 years in the public sector to providing support to leaders and teams to further mission driven activities. Her work focuses on building sustainable organizations, designing programs that make and impact, and sharing the stories of impact using data.
Calondra Tibbs has forged a successful 20+ year career as a public heath leader and small business owner. Ms. Tibbs spent over a decade leading public health teams at the local and state governmental agencies, covering areas such as epidemiology and maternal and child health. At the Louisiana Department of Health, she led the public health team and community engagement efforts to address environmental contamination at Superfund sites across the state. At the local level, while at the Shelby County Health Department, Ms. Tibbs was instrumental in restructuring implementation of the local health department national Healthy Start program and thus appointed the Deputy Administrator of the county’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau. Also, as lead epidemiologist, she was a key leader in investigation of infectious disease, food-borne illnesses, and other disease outbreaks across the county as well as representing the county health department in county-wide coalitions to address infant mortality disparities.
After a successful career in governmental public health, Ms. Tibbs led teams in the national nonprofit sector, at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). She was responsible for growing her public health portfolio from $1 million to $9.5 million over a period of nearly 5 years, garnering grants and contracts from federal agencies and corporations. Her portfolio of programs included activities that addressed maternal and child health, chronic disease, environmental health, and injury and violence prevention. In addition, as the Chief Operating Officer for a national patient advocacy organization, WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, she oversaw the administration of $4.5 million in corporate and individual donations to support mission-driven programs and services. As an effective leader she led the organization in strategically aligning programs and systems to increase efficiency and ensure accomplishment of programmatic and funder goals.
In 2020, Ms. Tibbs launched Trifecta Advising, LLC, a nonprofit strategy firm, to support nonprofits in achieving their fundraising and mission-driven goals. She leveraged her expertise in fundraising and grant writing to secure over $8 million in funding from federal agencies and corporations for her nonprofit clients, while also helping to build evidence-informed programs and services to meet the needs of their constituents. In addition, Ms. Tibbs leveraged public health and health equity expertise to design and implement curriculum and program evaluation activities to effectively reduce disparities in health outcomes. Over her career, Ms. Tibbs has provided keynote addresses at national and international conferences, presented on programs and research, and designed and provided team and executive-level training for governmental and nonprofit organizations. She has also done media interviews for local and national television and online journals. She earned her Masters of Public Health from Florida A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science Education from the University of Florida.
