The Equity Table is a round-table discussion, which was be held the evening before the first official day of the Healthy Start Virtual Grantees’ Meeting. The discussion featured Art James, MD, FACOG, Janelle Palacios, PhD, CNM, and Denise Evans, MM, MA, RHCP and will be moderated by Kenn L. Harris. During the discussion, Art, Janelle, and Denise explored the racism and inequities communities of color face in the United States, today and historically, and the subsequent impact on their health and well-being. Specifically, they discussed the persistent disparities seen among Black and Native communities, both in maternal and child health outcomes and beyond.

By the end of the session, participants will:

• Understand the impact of racism and inequities on the health and well-being of African American communities;
• Develop a shared language around this topic.
