Dr. Deborah Teplow is an expert in the science of behavior change and language of caring to help practitioners help others make positive, lasting behavior change. Deborah is co-founder and CEO of the Institute for Wellness Education, which created the US national occupational standards and training curriculum for the US Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship in Wellness Coaching.
Deborah has trained staff for national, state, and local agencies and organizations including Healthy Start (HRSA/HHS), New Jersey Prevention Network, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Medica, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, Methuen Police Department, Bergen County Technical Schools, the Tulalip Tribes, and Pribilof Islands Aleut Communities.
Deborah helps practitioners address a wide variety of issues that prevent their patients from living full, healthy lives. The issues range from chronic disease management, post-hospitalization homecare, mental illness and substance use disorders, to domestic abuse and parenting. She also provides training to organizations on leadership topics including self-leadership, teamwork, and change management.
